DRAWMER
LA12 Line
Level Distribution Amplifier
The LA12 is a
line level stereo distribution amplifier designed primarily for
use in a real time tape duplication facility. The LA12 provides
twelve individually controlled stereo outputs to feed up to 12 recorders
or other line level equipment. All inputs and outputs are unbalanced
on premium quality RCA jacks. The input gain control goes from full
off to providing up to 10 dB of gain. A left/right balance control
allows you to adjust the balance between the two channels if necessary.
Twelve stereo
level controls adjustable from -40 to +10 dB of gain control the
level of the outputs so you can customize the input level to each
recorder if they're not all of the same type. The use of high quality
dual controls on a single knob assures accurate left/right tracking
and no image shift when adjusting the input or output levels. Being
a Drawmer, the signal quality is extraordinarily high, making the
LA12 suitable for real-time audiophile quality duplication. .

Studio Applications:
The most likely place for an LA12 in the studio
is in the copy room connected to a variety of recorders for
the purpose of making multiple copies of a project or the
day's mixes. It's also handy in the control room when the
producer, lead singer, and a couple of band members all pull
out their various recorders at the end of the session and
ask if they can have copies of the rough mix. With the individual
output level controls, you can set the proper record level
on anything that comes in the door.
While
we'll admit that the days of audiophile cassette duplication
are numbered, with the LA12 and a rack full of today's budget
priced stand-alone CD recorders, you can set up a small run
CD duplication facility at low cost and still make a few high
quality cassette or DAT dubs when required. .

Live
Sound:
Just as in the studio, often in live sound work you'll be
approached by someone at the last minute who hands you a plug
and asks for "a feed." With the LA12 fed from a stereo mix
of the show you can easily accommodate the requests of band
members, record labels, or broadcast services.
Often
a conference desires to offer cassettes or CDs of the lectures
and seminars to the attendees. Often these must be ordered
at the conference (or afterward) and are shipped out later.
With an LA12 at the gig, you can easily make multiple copies
of a recording immediately after a session, or even make multiple
live recordings during the session. This is often a profitable
service which will quickly pay for the LA12.
Installed
Sound Applications:
Frequently a permanent sound system will have a requirement
for recording in multiple formats - audio cassette and/or
CD for documentation and later listening, copies for guest
lecturers or performers, a DAT or reel-to-reel tape for broadcast,
and the like. With an LA12 connected to a suite of recorders
for all of your required formats, you can make multiple recordings
of the event or duplicates of a recording afterward.

DRAWMER
DA6 Stereo
Six Output Distribution Amplifier with Headphone Monitor
The DA6 distributes
a stereo signal to up to six stereo pairs of outputs, each with
independent level control. All inputs and outputs are on balanced
XLR connectors with a nominal operating level of +4 dBu. The input
gain and output level controls have a range of -15 to +15 dB to
accommodate line levels higher or lower than nominal, including
-10 dBV consumer level. Typical applications are for feeding a mix
to several different destinations, each of which may have its own
level requirements, format (mono or stereo) or topology (balanced
or unbalanced).
Each of the
six outputs of the DA6 has a Mono/Stereo switch which sums the inputs
to both outputs. Since the switch affects only its own output pair,
if the input is stereo, some outputs can be stereo, others mono.
Up to 12 mono outputs, each with its own level control, can be provided
from a mono source. A pair of auxiliary outputs directly from the
input gain controls can be used to stack additional DA6's for even
more outputs.
The DA6 has
a built-in headphone amplifier with a switch to select the output
channel to be monitored by headphones and displayed on the Output
meter. The ability to meter each output individually is handy for
verifying output levels to match the connected equipment. The headphone
amplifier packs a wallop - about one watt, plenty to drive headphones
from 8 to 600 ohms to ear-splitting volume!
Each DA6 output
is electronically balanced and electrically isolated, so a shorted
cable to a "visiting" recorder won't affect any other output, nor
will a user requiring an unbalanced feed unbalance the whole system.
The DA6 can be ordered with isolation transformers on any or all
of the outputs. This may be desirable to "bulletproof" multiple
feeds when working in unknown EMI environments .
|
Studio
Applications:
The DA6 can be used anywhere you need to send a stereo output
to multiple sources. Because it's fully balanced in and out,
it will match up properly with any line level equipment. It
can be used in the control room for mixing to several different
media simultaneously - an analog reel-to-reel recorder, a
digital audio workstation, a DAT, a CD recorder, and a couple
of cassettes or Minidisks for the band.
The DA6
can also be used to set up a copy station, connecting a single
stereo playback source to up to six stereo recorders. The
Auxiliary output of the DA6 can be used to stack additional
DA6's to expand the copy facility when required.

Live
Sound Applications:
Often the live sound engineer is asked to provide a "feed"
of the program mix. It might be for a band member who hands
you his recorder before the set, or several reporters at a
press conference with assorted audio and video recorders and
perhaps a remote broadcast setup interfacing to a telephone
line. The DA6 provides all the flexibility you need to accommodate
these additional feeds at the levels each one requires, each
one can be either stereo (if your mix is stereo) or mono,
and the completely isolated outputs offers protection from
problems with outer outputs should one of the "visiting" cables
develop a short circuit.
Often
a conference desires to offer cassettes or CDs of the lectures
and seminars to the attendees. Often these must be ordered
at the conference (or afterward) and are shipped out later.
With a DA6 at the gig, you can easily make multiple copies
of a recording immediately after a session, or even make multiple
live recordings during the session. This is often a profitable
service which will quickly pay for the DA6.
Installed
Sound Applications:
The DA6 makes an excellent "media box" for a conference room
installation where press conferences or presentations are
held. Since most programs of this nature are mono, by pressing
the Mono switches in the DA6's output section, up to twelve
independent isolated sources can be fed - recorders, reporters,
direct broadcast via phone line or satellite link, or remote
sound systems in other parts of the building.
Frequently
a permanent sound system will have a requirement for recording
in multiple formats - audio cassette and/or CD for documentation
and later listening, copies for guest lecturers or performers,
a DAT or reel-to-reel tape for broadcast, and the like. With
a DA6 connected to a suite of recorders for all of your required
formats, you can make multiple recordings of the event or
duplicates of a recording afterward.
